Funny how some of the same people that complain about Bautista also want Milledge benched or traded, isn't it? PL view post

Can Milledge, McCutheon and Jones produce 60+ home runs and 210+ rbi's next year if they are the starters in the outfield? view post

So it seems John's been fired and all of his entries have been stricken from the record. I guess any photos will have to be altered by the NGB - the Nutting division of the KGB. Stalin would be proud. Let's see how long this entry stays up if it is indeed posted at all. view post
Where do you find a power hitter?

Seems the overwhelming need according to the poll above is a power hitter. Where do you find one of those in the off season. Who would it be and what would it cost? Just wonderin' view post
More on Perrotto
Back to John Perrotto and his firing by the evil Nuttings. What's the latest? Has John spoken publically about this other than saying he didn't see it coming and that the evil ones wanted to go in a different direction? Any word of explanation from the Pirate Report? I guess we'll never hear the real story, Nutting being the wimpy coward that he is. view post

Hey Serg

Bro, remember when you posted this? "Serg444 07-30-09 1:02 PM I also won't post if the Pirates don't lose 100 games. Fat chance of that happening. They ain't winning 20 more games. I could put the local high school kids up against this frail hitting group. This is almost comical how bad this team is. They might not get more than 5 hits in any game for the rest of the year. And they expect people to pay to see this garbage??" Well Jerk, are you a man of your word? You won't post here any more. You and any/all of your aliases are gone. Or are you a lying, suckin' off Adam Dunn, sack of crap? view post

Bay, McClutch, McClouth - OF's Rameriz, Wilson, Sanchez, Jones and Doumit. Duke, Malholm, Gorzo, Olendorhf 1-4 P's Pen has Burnett, Grabow. how hard would it have been to keep this team, how much better would they be? Contending for a wild card? view post
clement and Jones
Jones appears to be the real deal, I know it has only been 2 months but he is showing an ability to adjust to off speed pitches and curve balls. It appears AAA managers have figured out Clements weakness. His average has dropped 40 points in the past 3 weeks. The question is can he adjust and how are they pitching him differently? view post

Seemingly Lastings Milledge has not learned a thing since his days with the Mets and Nationals. Milledge continues to push the envelope now with the Pirates. Allowing Milledge to wear uniform #85 a number normally seen not in baseball was the Pirates first mistake. Allowing Milledge to wear mostly white shoes with yellow strings was the second mistake. Also Milledge does not appear to be extending himself in the field especially on balls hit to the wall or in the corner. This guy has "problem" written all over him. view post
LaRoche and Atlanta a match made ...

in heaven. Is this the only team Adam can play for? He has had some impressive numbers since landing there. Maybe it is only his second half surge again or perhaps he is most comfortable in the Atlanta clubhouse? view post
Ronny Cedeno's Defense
Is it just me or has anyone else been impressed with Cedenos defense since he was obtained from the Seattle Mariners. He is so fluid when making the routine play. The play he made Monday night diving towards CF then flipping to Delwyn Young was incredible to complete the double play. His bat hasnt been that bad either so far. We might have given up a pretty good defensive SS but Cedeno has been a reasonable fascimile so far. view post

The inferior Nutting budget
What if Neal Huntington hadn't been able to acquire what he seems to think was a good return for Nady, Marte, and Bay? Would he have kept them? If so, how would he have fit them into the self-inflicted miniscule Nutting $53M payroll? The obvious answer is he couldn't have. He knew that, so he did the usual Nutting thing - salary dump. These two deals were straight salary dumps. Huntington brought in players without any remaining options (Raggedy Andy LaRoche, Wild Thing Hansen), AAAA level pitchers from the Yanks, another Tommy John recoveree, and a head case outfielder. These weren't baseball trades, they were salary dumps. Poor Huntington couldn't fit decent players like Bay, Nady, and Marte into the Pirate budget with the chump changes that Nutting gives him. The root of all of the Pirate problems is Bob Nutting. It's so obvious. view post
Matt Capps

I have become troubled by the struggles of Matt Capps lately. His control seems to be no where near what it has been in the past and its creating a lot more problems than just walks. He's leaving pitches up and over the plate, never a good thing for a closer. A lot of Capps' struggles have come in non-save situations this year, and I have always believed he should never be used in a tie game. Hitters take a different approach in a tie game and are much more aggressive, especially when facing a hard throwing strike thrower like Capps. When down by a few runs in a save situations, hitters are looking more for any opportunity to get on base and are much more passive. Capps often times will get ahead in the count in these situations and make it difficult for the hitter to battle back. However, this year his control seems to not be as effective as it has been in the past, yet his velocity is still there. Wondering if its mechanical or mental? view post

ok looks like we are going to lose another good popular player. we will probably lose freddie sanchez after the allstar game. how much more of this crap can we take.if the owners of the last 10 years were around during the 60's,70's we would have lost clemente, maz ,stargell. stop this view post

How do you see the Pirates lineup playing out by the end of the season? What is everybody's thoughts on first base and shortstop by the end of the season? view post
McCutchen unblocked.

We have been waiting for Andrew McCutchen for some time now. There is little doubt that Nate McLouth will be missed. However, not for long and not for lack of a better word: SOUL. McCutchen is exciting. He is young and is still growing. His plate discipline, his blinding speed, and his poise on the field is exactly what we needed. I see him maturing physically and see the ball going much further as he gets older. McCutchen , Morgan and teh pitcher could be a likely top of the order. Heck, Andrew and Nyjer could score on a bunt. I see it has an eventual handicap in the near future. Start each game with the Bucs on top 2-0. We'd be World champs for sure.... That is the happy Beisbol, even though it could be accurate. Nate McLouth is good. He was the 749th over all pick. Andrew McCutchen was our #1, 11th over all pick. He is five years younger than Nate. Am I imagining the Pirates actually building this team around Andrew now? view post
